When someone drives a commercial vehicle, there are a number of hazards that they may have to deal with. Whether they drive a coach bus or a delivery truck, some of these vehicles can be difficult to manage. Additionally, for some drivers in Houston, Texas, the demands of their job can make them very tired and have a negative impact on their driving. Sadly, when driver fatigue or any of these factors lead to an accident, those involved could suffer serious personal injury and even lose their life.
After slamming into a support column below an Interstate 10 overpass, a 39-year-old delivery truck driver passed away. A fire started in the vehicle after the collision and the man was entirely burned, according to an official. The crash, which took place shortly before 4 a.m., also caused damage to the overpass.
Although authorities do not know why the driver lost control of the truck, one official believes he may have been tired. According to a witness, the truck was driving erratically for a number of miles before the driver lost control and struck the column. An investigation into the incident, which shut down portions of the road for several hours, is ongoing.
These accidents can have wide-ranging consequences that impact the quality of life for those who have been involved in a number of ways. On top of physical and emotional suffering, the financial consequences can be staggering. From hospital expenses to lost wages and funeral costs, people who are dealing with these issues may want to consider talking to a legal professional.
