When a pedestrian is struck by a negligent driver, their entire life may change in an instant. Tragically, some are unable to survive the accident, while others are left with serious injuries that are very painful (and sometimes permanent). In Houston, Texas, and throughout the U.S., there are many reasons why pedestrian accidents continue to occur. However, these accidents can ruin lives, regardless of whether someone was hit by a drunk driver or distracted driver. As a result, everyone on the road should understand the potential consequences of a pedestrian accident and do everything they can to avoid an accident.
A pedestrian accident recently took place near a border patrol checkpoint in Texas, according to authorities. The accident, which happened on US 62/180 at roughly 4:20 a.m. near Hueco Tanks, caused part of the road to be closed for a number of hours.
According to officials with the Texas Department of transportation, authorities had to direct traffic to FM 1111. At this time, authorities have not released any additional information regarding the accident, which is still being investigated.
Life can be very hard for a pedestrian who was hit by a negligent driver. For example, some may struggle with medical bills, be unable to work or experience other financial problems. Furthermore, if they were injured in the incident, their life may never be the same. For some victims of pedestrian accidents, filing a lawsuit may be necessary and could help restore a sense of normalcy. When people decide to take this route, contacting a knowledgeable legal professional could be a smart decision.
