Pedestrian accidents occur for a variety of reasons, whether a negligent driver fails to yield or a drunk driver strikes someone walking on the sidewalk. Regardless of the details that surround an incident, pedestrians are particularly vulnerable to serious injuries and death when they are struck by a vehicle. In Houston, Texas, busy intersections, crowded streets and distracted drivers increase the likelihood of another pedestrian accident taking place. As a result, drivers should always look out for pedestrians and everyone should be vigilant when they take to the road.
According to authorities, a 3-year-old girl ran in front of a car at roughly 8 p.m. in Tyler, Texas. In an attempt to prevent her daughter from being struck by the vehicle, the girl's mother tried to intervene and push her out of the path of the vehicle. However, they were both struck by the car.
After the accident, the mother and daughter were transported to a nearby hospital, where they are recovering from their injuries. Authorities are still investigating the incident and have not issued any citations.
When someone is hit by a car, they could experience a number of hardships. On top of severe physical and emotional pain, serious injuries and even loss of life, these accidents can be financially devastating for the victims and their families as well. Not only could hefty medical expenses and funeral costs lead to problems, but some people may be unable to work because of the incident. Anyone who is considering taking legal action to receive the compensation that they deserve could find value in talking to an attorney.
