Houston authorities investigating deadly pedestrian accident

When a pedestrian is struck by a negligent driver, their life may never be the same. Even if they are lucky enough to survive, they often have to deal with severe consequences. Every year, an alarming number of pedestrian accidents occur in Houston, Texas, and throughout the country. In order to prevent a pedestrian accident from claiming another life, drivers should be particularly vigilant when they get behind the wheel and closely pay attention to the road.

Authorities are investigating a pedestrian accident which recently took place in southwest Houston. Law enforcement officials said a woman who was in her 60s was hit by an SUV while she was crossing the road. They also claim that she was not using the crosswalk and said that the driver was released after questioning and will not be charged.

The woman who was driving the SUV claims that she did not notice the pedestrian because sunlight affected her ability to see and that she originally thought she had collided with a garbage can. The victim was declared dead at the scene of the accident.

When an auto-pedestrian accident takes place, it can turn the lives of those involved upside down. For example, family members may lose a loved one or a survivor may struggle with serious injuries. Additionally, the financial hardships these accidents sometimes cause can be tremendous. After all, with medical expenses, funeral costs and lost wages, many victims deal with other problems on top of physical and emotional trauma. If you are going through this, you may want to consider contacting a legal professional.
