How many pedestrians are killed and injured in accidents?

When pedestrians are involved in a traffic accident, they often face an especially high risk of suffering an injury or losing their life. Sadly, these accidents happen all too often in Houston, Texas, and across America. Even for pedestrians who survive an accident, the psychological scars and serious injuries may haunt them for years to come. To make matters worse, some may also have difficulty covering medical expenses or paying other bills because they can't work. In order to prevent the possible repercussions of an auto-pedestrian accident from ruining additional lives, drivers should always watch out for pedestrians and drive safely.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 4,700 people died in a pedestrian accident in 2012. Over the course of the same year, 70,000 Americans were injured in a pedestrian accident, which reveals just how many people are involved in pedestrian accidents in this country. In 2012, a pedestrian lost their life in a traffic accident every two hours and was hurt every seven minutes, on average. Statistics also reveal that on every trip, pedestrians are 150 percent more likely to die in an auto accident than the occupant of a passenger vehicle.

If you or one of your loved ones were involved in a pedestrian accident that resulted in a death or injury, you may be experiencing a tremendous amount of pain and have no idea of how to move forward. However, trying to remain positive and swiftly confronting the accident is necessary.
