Houston motorists understand that accidents can happen. In some cases, these incidents are simply unavoidable. Unfortunately, many of the crashes that occur on the roadways in Texas and other states across the nation are due to the negligence of other drivers. Whether it is due to distractions, speeding, recklessness or intoxication, a negligent driver is a dangerous factor to have on the roadways.
According to recent reports, the roadways in the Houston area saw a deadly and dangerous weekend. It was reported that local authorities responded to three drunk driving related collisions. In one of these incidents, a parent, who was traveling with the other parent and children, almost crashed into a police cruiser.
The second involved a Cadillac crashing into another vehicle, killing two occupants. Authorities found alcohol all over the Cadillac following the collision. The third collision involved a teenage driver who was believed to be under the influence of alcohol. The young driver crashed into two patrol units, injuring two deputies.
Local authorities stress that these recent accidents highlight the dangers of drinking and driving. Although measures are taken to reduce the number of drunk drivers on the roadways, this unfortunately does not prevent these types of accidents from happening.
The aftermath of a motor vehicle accident can be devastating. Victims and the loved ones of deceased victims can suffer tremendously, as the financial losses associated with these accidents can be significant. Thus, it is vital to consider what could be done to address these losses, such as recovering compensation through a civil action.
