Even though most drivers know how dangerous the roads can be and the importance of driving safely, car accidents continue to claim lives. Often, these fatalities could have been prevented. In Houston, Texas, families who have lost a loved one in an auto accident may have a very hard time trying to recover. In addition to significant emotional pain, they could have financial problems as well (medical costs, funeral expenses and so on).
On Highway 290 in Houston, a semi truck recently slammed into the back of a car. That car was pushed into a truck, which then hit another vehicle in front of it. The multi-vehicle accident claimed the life of a young boy who was riding in the car that was hit by the semi. His mother and sister, who were also in the vehicle, were flown to a medical facility as a result of their injuries.
Although the semi truck driver does not appear to have been injured, the drivers of the other two vehicles suffered minor injuries, according to officials. Authorities have not disclosed what charges the driver of the semi truck may face. However, investigators believe he was using his cell phone while driving on the highway.
For someone who is already suffering after losing a family member, the thought of taking legal action could seem overwhelming. When a wrongful death occurs, it is imperative for those who are dealing with emotional and financial burdens to receive what they are entitled to. Anyone who has had their life interrupted by a negligent driver or is trying to move forward after a car crash may want to consider talking to an attorney.
